NSD1204 How to use MultiDB view in Identity Manager

Fact

Identity Manager 3.6 and later

Situation

Multi DB functionality in Identity Manager can be used to view data on an object from multiple data sources. If a user exists in multiple directories, selected user data can be presented.

The information is retrieved in real-time from each data source and presented in a form.

Solution

- Download the zip-file MultiDB-v2.zip

Extract the file, the content should look like this:

- Copy the file multiDB.xml to (replace file if exist): C:Program FilesNordicEdgeIMStandAlone4lib

- Copy the contents from the folder java to (replace files if exists):

Stand Alone client folder:  C:Program FilesNordicEdgeIMStandAlone4Controls

and

Web client folder: C:Program FilesNordicEdgeIMtomcat6-im4webappsnordicedgeWEB-INFclassesControls

- Copy the contents from the folder web to (replace files if exist):

Web client folder:  C:Program FilesNordicEdgeIMtomcat6-im4webappsnordicedgejspCustomControls

- Configure multiDB policy

Configure the needed multi DB (if not already configured), using the policies under the section "MultiDB". In this example the Service Desk policy is configured.

Open the stand alone client and configure the following policies:

In the policy it is possible to configure up to six different data sources.  The Local policy is always connected to the primary directory.

In the following table some of the most common used policies are explained:

When all multiDB is configured save the policy.

- Save the form MultiDBForm.xml to the LDAP directory

In the stand alone client open the Tab Designer and load the MultiDBform into the session.

Go to Tools-Tab Properties and change the Display Name and the Object Class of the form if necessary. Save the form to the LDAP directory (File-Save as-LDAP object). Close the tab designer.
-    Test configuration

Login as a user that has the policy assigned, edit a user object.  The form
should be loaded and display something similar as below, depending on your configuration:

It is also possible to use MultiDB with Predefined searches, read more in NSD1077
